SCHUMANN Cello Concerto in A Minor, Op. 129
HAYDN Symphony No. 98 in B-flat Major
LISZT Hungarian Rhapsody No. 1

Transcendental and mysterious. Emotional. Boisterous and full of surprises, Haydn’s expressive Symphony No. 98 was the first he composed after learning of his friend Mozart’s death. Guest conductor Carlos Kalmar and Principal Cello Ahrim Kim bring to life Schumann’s intensely lyric and enigmatic Cello Concerto. Kodály’s Galanta Dances, based on the folk music from Slovakia where he lived for a number of years, brings a lively start to the evening, with the culmination being Liszt’s animated Hungarian Rhapsody No. 1.

AHRIM KIM’S PERFORMANCE IS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE KATHERINE T. AND JON L. SCHUMACHER ORCHESTRA MUSICIAN SOLOIST FUND
